Dairy farmers step up fair price campaign

FARMERS and their families are to escalate their campaign of blockades against stores they claim are responsible for unfair milk prices paid to dairies after talks collapsed with a key discount supermarket.

Farmers For Action (FFA) said yesterday negotiations with North Lanarkshire-based Farmfoods were abandoned before they began, with claims the store had invited milk processors round the table, a move dairy owners said broke the spirit of the pricing discussions.
