Deer warning for drivers

DRIVERS are being warned to be on the lookout for deer as they start to come out to feed on grass verges.

With the clocks going back and nights drawing in, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) said there are more than 7000 deer-related motor accidents every year in Scotland, on average causing 70 human injuries.

The total cost of these accidents is £5 million. Across the UK, it is estimated there are up to 74,000 deer-related motor vehicle accidents a year, causing 400-700 human injuries and 20 deaths.
