Derek Batey, first host of Mr & Mrs, dies at 84

Tributes have been paid to the original Mr & Mrs game show host Derek Batey, who has died at the age of 84.

The TV personality, who presented the show throughout the 1970s and 80s, died at a hospice near his home in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, on Sunday night following a short illness, ITV said.

Mr Batey, who was born in Brampton in Cumbria, began his career with ITV Border, in Carlisle, when it first began in 1961 and worked there for nearly 25 years.
