Ding dong over Olympics festival bellringing

YOU could say it is a bit of a ding dong.

Plans to mark the opening to the London Olympic Games with a national ringing of bells has run in to opposition … from the nation’s bell-ringers.

Scottish artist Martin Creed, winner of the Turner Prize in 2001 for his famous ‘The lights going on and off’, will create ‘All the bells in a country rung as quickly and as loudly as possible for three minutes’ on July 27 to open the 2012 Games.
