DOMINIC Hill became the most recognised director in the history of Scotland's leading theatre awards after picking up two further nominations this year.
The artistic director of Glasgow's Citizens Theatre took the number of nominations he has received in the Critics' Awards for Theatre to 12 after the 2013 shortlists were announced.
In what is the 11th year of the awards, he is shortlisted in the best director category and his production of Krapp's Last Tape is nominated for best production.
Actor Alan Cumming, who presented the awards at the Tron Theatre last year, is amongst the eight nominees for best performance. He is shortlisted for the National Theatre of Scotland's one-man Macbeth, to play on Broadway, where he tackles all 15 roles from the Shakespearean tragedy.
The Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh and the National Theatre of Scotland have nominations in eight categories.
No fewer than 27 different productions staged across Scotland have made the shortlists this year.
The awards will be at the Traverse Theatre on June 9.
CATS co-convenor, Joyce McMillan, said: "There are signs that the trend towards co-productions between major companies is producing shows of outstanding scale and quality."
