Django Django to battle it out for Mercury Prize

A BAND that formed after meeting at art school in Edinburgh will battle it out with Plan B and Richard Hawley for the the Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize.

Django Django were last night named on the shortlist of 12 for the highly valued award, alongside established acts such as The Maccabees and Field Music.

Rapper Plan B – whose real name is Ben Drew – is the first artist to make the list for a soundtrack album, with Ill Manors, which accompanies the gritty film of the same name that he directed.
