A PESKY canine brought play to a standstill as it ran onto the golf course and stole former Ryder Cup star Paul Casey's ball on the 12th green at Kingsbarns Golf Links.

The dog's antics sparked laughter from the player and spectators at the pro-am Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as it crossed the green and made off with Casey's golf ball in its mouth.

The tournament is also being played on courses at St Andrews and Carnoustie, where model Elizabeth Hurley and fiance, former Australian cricketer Shane Warne, made an appearance yesterday. The pair were all smiles as Warne stepped out for his game at the tournament, where the couple announced their engagement last year.

Lost in Translation star Bill Murray is also among this year's celebrity competitors in the championship which has previously pulled in Hollywood stars including Hugh Grant and Samuel L Jackson.

The competition will finish tomorrow at the Old Course at St Andrews.
