Specialist dogs and a helicopter have been used by police searching for a woman reported missing more than a week ago.

Kelli Ferris, 40, was last seen on September 10 in Aberdeen city centre and reported missing a week later. The last sighting of her was around 4.45pm at Marischal Court at the corner with Virginia Street.

She is described as being 5ft 4in, of slim build with shoulder-length red/ginger hair. When she was last seen she was wearing dark trousers, a blue jacket and was carrying a brown handbag.

Significant searches have been carried out in the area using specialist co-ordinators, Police Scotland said, but officers have not found her or any of her belongings.

Detective Superintendent Mark Cooper said: "Kelli had been unwell recently and has a health condition which requires medication, so as time goes by we are increasingly concerned for her welfare.

"We have had several responses to our appeal for sightings and will follow every lead up.

"I would also urge all residents of the city centre to check around their properties including any garden sheds or outbuildings.

"I would again appeal for anyone who may have had sight of Kelli or have information that may lead to her whereabouts to come forward."

He said searches would continue over the weekend, with an image of the missing woman projected in the city centre as well as posters being displayed.

The police appeal comes after her mother Catherine Sandison made an emotional plea earlier this week for her to get in touch.
