DOGS have fallen ill after visiting a park in a Scottish town sparking fears over an E.coli outbreak.

Fife Council confirmed it is carrying out an investigation at Letham Glen, Leven, amid fears for public safety.

It is believed 10 dogs have fallen ill with acute sickness and/or diarrhoea, five confirmed as E.coli cases.

Caroline Mitchell, a dog owner from Leven, said her rottweiler contracted sickness and diarrhoea almost two months ago and she had heard of the deaths of two dogs in recent weeks.

Fife Council's protective services said the incidents may be related to recent flooding in the area.
