Don’t knock the Knox

Groggy-headed revellers were greeted with a curious sight on New Year’s Day along Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

A giant blue puppet, two storeys tall and redolent of a Hindu god, lurched its way towards the castle. In a choreographed move it stopped outside a ramshackle building and a bearded figure in flat hat and preacher’s robes emerged.
