Donation boost after run death

THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for charity in just a few days in tribute to a runner who died on the Great Scottish Run.

A website set up to gather donations for the Cardiac Risk in the Young in memory of 28-year-old Aubrey Smith had collected £4416 last night.

Mr Smith, whose family live in Stirling, collapsed during the closing stages of the run in Glasgow on September 2, and died a short time later after being taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. What caused his death has not been announced.
