Don't send troops gifts says MoD

Well-wishers should not send Christmas gifts to British troops serving in Afghanistan, the Government has said.

Only families, and not the general public, should mail UK servicemen and women presents and cards, the Ministry of Defence said.

Military chiefs fear a deluge of well-intentioned post from generous strangers will clog up the system, delaying morale-boosting festive greetings and gifts from relatives.
