A man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the 4x4 vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree.

The incident occurred on the B977 road between Mill of Fintray and Kintore in Aberdeenshire at 6.45am yesterday.

The man, who was driving a Nissan Navara, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed while an investigation of the scene was carried out.

In a separate incident, a male driver was taken to ARI with non-life-threatening injuries after the Mitsubishi car he was driving crashed into a lamppost.

The incident occurred at 8am yesterday on Stoneywood Road in the Bucksburn area of Aberdeen.

Grampian Police have appealed for witnesses.
