Edinburgh removes council tax discount

EMPTY-property owners in Edinburgh are to be encouraged to get them back into use after the city council announced it was to abandon its 10% council tax discount on empty homes.

The city's council is one of the first to make use of new laws enabling local authorities to use council tax as an incentive to encourage owners to increase the available property stock.

Homes empty and unfurnished for more than year will lose the rebate.
