COMEDIAN and actor John Cleese's daughter is to perform in a stand-up comedy show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer.

Camilla Cleese, who grew up in the United States and still lives there, is due to appear at the Gilded Balloon venue along with fellow Americans Court McCowan and Sarah Tiana. Ms Cleese hopes her father will attend her UK live debut — though she admits they had different views about comedy.

She said: "I value his opinion more than anyone else and he's an amazing person to work with, although the one thing we don't see eye-to-eye on is stand-up comedy, which isn't really a surprise considering he's a 74-year-old man and I'm a 30-year-old woman."

John Cleese won fame thanks to the cult BBC series Monty Python's Flying Circus, which ran from 1969 and 1974. He appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1963 as part of the Cambridge Footlights Revue.
