Elderly miss their families

LONELY grandparents are missing out on their grandchildren's lives, with almost one-third seeing them only once a month or less.

A new report highlights problems with access, with only 32% of over-65s having monthly visits. The same proportion see their own children fortnightly or less.

One-fifth (21%) of the 1242 people surveyed by Age UK see close friends every two weeks and one in five said they found it hard to speak about loneliness.
