An elderly woman has died following a crash involving a car and a coach.

The 78-year-old car passenger died following the collision on the A82 Inverness to Fort William road.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Dunain, Inverness, just after 2pm yesterday.

The incident involved a car towing a caravan and a Volvo coach, police said.

The woman died of her injuries and the driver is in a stable condition at the city's Raigmore Hospital.

Police have not said how many people were on the coach at the time of the crash, but it is known that nobody else was injured in the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.
