Elvis has left the building

A popular fibre-glass statue of Elvis will be absent from Kelvingrove museum and art gallery for a month while it is painted and repaired at the Glasgow Museums Resource Centre in Nitshill.

An illuminated halo is also being repaired and the gold plinth on which it stands will be repainted after becoming worn. The statue was created by artist Sean Reid and has been on display since 1997.
