End of an era as Chamber serves up the final Colquhoun Dinner

IT is one of Glasgow's most traditional events com-memorating the life of an 18th-century businessman and former provost.

Yesterday, the annual Colquhoun Dinner, in honour of Patrick Colquhoun, who founded the city's Chamber of Commerce in 1783 – and the first regular preventive police force in England, the Thames River Police – came to an end after 74 years.
