A year-long celebration of everything that makes Scotland a top tourist destination. Nearly 200 events have been brought under the Homecoming banner in all parts of the country. Attractions range from the Braemar Gathering, the Aboyne Highland Games and the Wigtown Book Festival to Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations.
The Ryder Cup: Europe and America's best golfers square off at Gleneagles as they go head to head for the coveted trophy. Thousands of people from 75 different countries will travel to Gleneagles, Perthshire, especially for the event.
Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games: More than 4500 athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations will compete in Scotland's largest city from July 23 to August 3. The 11 days of competition will see events in 17 different sports ranging from lawn bowls to world-class athletics, with 261 medal events on show. More than one million tickets have been sold, and Glasgow will welcome sports fans from around the world.
Edinburgh Festivals: For three weeks during August the world-renowned Fringe and International Festival thousands of tourists will flock to the capital to enjoy the very best in classical music, theatre, opera, dance and visual art.
