SCOTLAND'S leading film festival has announced a German theme for next year.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival has revealed a number of new programming strands will be added to the 2014 programme, including a German Focus celebrating the best in the country's cinema.
The new strands will include Gala, which will present major UK premieres of both British and international films, and all-age films entitled For the Family, the festival said.
"Even more adventurous and farther-reaching" new work will be featured, and a New Perspectives strand will showcase new fiction and documentary film-making that "raises challenging questions about the medium".
Film-makers are now invited to submit their films for the event, which runs from June 18 to 29.
