Families tell of devastation as latest Afghanistan casualties are named

The mother of one of two Scots soldiers killed in an explosion in Afghanistan, who have been named by the Ministry of Defence, said his death had left a “hole in our lives and a hole in our heart”.

Private Sean McDonald and Corporal Johnathan Moore of The Royal Scots Borderers 1st Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, died on foot patrol on Sunday in Sangin, northern Helmand. Their deaths briefly equalled the UK’s death toll in the Falklands War.
