A mother who died following a road crash was a kind-hearted person and a friend to many, her family said.

Kerri MacDonald, 28, from the Elgin area, died after the collision near Alves in Moray on Friday night.

The crash, involving the car she was driving and two other vehicles, happened on the A96 between Elgin and Forres.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland, her family said: "Kerri was a wonderful mum to Matthew, loving sister to Daisy and Maya, a caring auntie to Caden and Jacob, and much loved daughter of Pete and Lyn.

"Kerri was a gentle, kind-hearted person who was a friend to many and took great joy in spending time with those she loved.

"A light has gone out from our world."

The driver of one of the other vehicles, a Nissan Micra, was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin following the crash.
