FIREFIGHTERS spent hours at a tanning salon after a blaze which is thought to have been sparked by a faulty sun bed.

Crews were called to Tan Express in Cowdenbeath on Thursday night after the fire broke out at the two-storey building. Firefighters were on the scene for eight hours.

No-one was hurt in the incident, which is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault in a sun bed.

Crews from Lochgelly, Dunfermline, Burntisland and Kirkcaldy were sent to the scene at 7.30pm.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze with a hose reel jet before gaining access to the first floor to ventilate the building.

Duty sergeant Don Sutherland said the blaze was not being treated as suspicious.
