Fears of gridlock at supermall car park

THE executive agency that handles public transport in Strathclyde has objected to a £300 million plan to double the size of Buchanan Galleries.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has raised formal concerns over the private scheme – backed by millions of pounds from Glasgow City Council – amid concerns it will create traffic gridlock in the city.

It is feared the future supermall's car park, which will have a single entrance in congested North Hanover Street, could disrupt bus routes.
