Fears over ecstasy as man poisoned

POLICE have issued a fresh drugs warning after a 21-year-old Lanarkshire man was admitted to intensive care after taking ecstasy.

The man was found in an agitated state in a house in Hamilton at around 8.55am yesterday. He was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, where he is being treated in intensive care.

It is believed he consumed at least three ecstasy tablets that were yellow and decorated with the Bitcoin symbol. In recent months red Mortal Kombat ecstasy has been linked to clubbers becoming seriously ill or dying.

Detective Sergeant Martin McKendrick said: "At this time we are trying to establish where exactly the man took the drugs and where he got them."
