Female horse rider dies in road crash

A woman horse rider has died and another was seriously injured in a road crash.

It is understood the women were walking their horses along the B725 road in Dumfries and Galloway when they were in a collision with a vehicle.

Police have appealed for witnesses following the accident which occurred between Clarencefield and Bankend at around 5.15pm.

Officers have yet to release the identity of the woman who died. It is believed she lived locally.
