One of the most iconic figures of cinema, the actress Ingrid Bergman, is to be celebrated as part of next year's Glasgow Film Festival.

The film festival has announced its dates - from February 18 to March 1 next year, a day longer than last year - as well as some key themes.

Last year the film festival registered more than 40,000 admissions to its films.

One of next year's themes is Here's Looking at You, which celebrates Bergman, whose most famous role is in 1942's Casablanca, in the 100th year since her birth.

The strand of films programmed in her honour will include films from her early days in Sweden, to her Oscar-winning films -Gaslight, Anastasia and Murder on the Orient Express - to the last films she made before her death in 1982.

In other changes, the Glasgow Youth Film Festival will be a weekend festival, focussed on teenagers from February 6-8, and for the first time the Glasgow Short Film Festival will run on its own, from March 11 to 15.

Details of the film festival will be released in full in January.

There will be fewer films in the programme next year, as the major Cineworld venue in Glasgow's city centre is undergoing a refurbishment. More showings will be staged at the CCA and Grosvenor Cinemas.

Among the other new programme strands this year are 'Nerdvana', events with a focus on cult cinema, gaming and comic book culture and Pioneer, which looks for leading directors of the future and CineMasters.

Glasgow Youth Film Festival's focus on teenagers means the main festival will provide films for children with the Modern Families theme. There will also be a focus on Australian cinema, called Strewth! and an exhibition, Cinema City.
