HMS Edinburgh has set sail for a final visit to the city she was named after as the ship continues its farewell tour.

The Navy's largest Type 42 Destroyer sailed under Tower Bridge as it left London and headed for the east coast on its journey to Leith docks where the crew will parade through the streets of the capital.

Hundreds of people on both banks of the River Thames stopped to watch and photograph as Tower Bridge was raised to allow HMS Edinburgh to pass.

It was built in Liverpool in 1983 and will be decommissioned next month, with the Type 45 Destroyers taking over duties.
