An Edinburgh couple are offering a £1,000 reward in a bid to help find their Parsons Russell Terrier Jeff, who went missing on Christmas Day.

Janeanne Gilchrist and Will Beeslar said Jeff was last seen in Newbattle Woods near Dalkeith, Midlothian and fear he has been stolen.

Ms Gilchrist said: "It was Christmas Day, I was putting the dinner on at my mum's and I took my two dogs, Jeff and Molly, and my mum's dog Charlie, out for a walk at 12pm.

"About quarter past 12 I lost sight of Jeff and I just thought he was further ahead and that he would come back. But he didn't. I waited for an hour but didn't hear or see anything. Ever since then I've been backwards and forwards looking for him. I've searched all around the area but there's no sign of him. I was going down to the woods in the middle of the night and listening so if he was there I would hear him, but I didn't hear a thing."

Ms Gilchrist said someone had been in touch to say they had seen Jeff but they have still not found him.

The couple are now offering a £1,000 reward to anyone who can help them find him

Ms Gilchrist added: "I always knew in my heart that he wasn't dead and now we know he's alive. Someone has seen him, we just can't find him. We believe he may have been stolen by someone who's sold him on.

"I desperately want him back, he's my right arm. We'll pay to get him back. We're just totally devastated.

"The Police, dog walkers, friends and social media have all been great mediums to raise awareness and remain hopeful for his safe return."

The pair have set up a Facebook page called Find Jeff Reward £1,000 Scotland to try and reach as many people as possible in a bid to trace the pooch.

Ms Gilchrist said: "We just want as many people as possible to see his picture and know we're looking for him. The more people who see the appeal and share it, the better chance we have of finding him."
