Fire fighters have tackled a major blaze in the west of Glasgow.

The entire roof of the three-storey block of flats at Cloan Avenue in Drumchapel appeared to have been burned out by the force of the flames.

Miraculously, nobody is thought to have been injured in the fire, which broke out at around 6.45pm last night.

Fire crews are reported to have accounted for all the block's residents.

Seven appliances tackled the blaze and huge plumes of smoke could be seen from around the west end of the city.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We were called to reports of a fire at 6.45pm, and seven appliances were in attendance."
