Firms get rate cut for tram work

TRADERS in parts of Edinburgh will have business rates cut as a result of continuing work on the trams project.

The Lothian Assessor has agreed that traders in Shandwick Place have a strong case for a cut in rateable value because of the impact of the works.

About 60 retailers, bars restaurants and other businesses can now claim a cut in their non-domestic Rateable Value from the restart of street works in autumn 2011 to scheduled completion next spring.
