Football club's plans 'killed off'

PLANS for a new Aberdeen Football Club stadium have been thrown into doubt after city councillors voted against a development expected to house the new facility.

The Dons were hoping the proposed Calder Park community sports centre at Cove would double as a training facility for the club, which wanted to open a new 21,000-seat ground nearby.

But councillors have voted to take control of the land to look into other development opportunities in the area.
