Footballer on drugs charges

FORMER Scotland and Hibernian striker Garry O'Connor has been charged in relation to alleged drugs offences after police were called to an incident at an off-licence in Edinburgh.

The 29-year-old who earlier this year signed a two-year contract with Tom Tomsk of Siberia, was recognised by officers attending a call-out to an incident at the store in Leith Walk in Edinburgh at around 10pm on Sunday.

No further complaint was made over the alleged incident.

O'Connor's signing for Tom Tomsk is his second spell in Russian football following the 16 months he spent with Lokomotiv Moscow in 2007.

O'Connor watched Hibs defeat city rivals Hearts 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
