The father and sister of footballer Jamie Skinner have joined more than 400 mourners at the funeral of the youngster.

The Tynecastle FC starlet, who was 13, died when he collapsed whilst playing against Spartans FC shortly before Christmas last year.

His father, George, and elder sister Sonia led mourners, who included Hearts manager Gary Locke and Hibs footballer Liam Craig in the open air at Craigmillar Castle Park Cemetery in Edinburgh yesterday.

Jamie's club tweeted after the ceremony: "Fantastic turn out for Jamie Skinner funeral today, he'll not be forgotten. Rest in Peace Jamie from all at Tynecastle."

The organisation Youth Football Scotland added: "What an amazing turnout at Jamie's Skinner's funeral today. A great tribute."

The teenager was a member of the Hearts U14 squad for the first half of this season before moving to Tynecastle FC. Last week a charity match involving young players from across the capital was held in his memory. The death came hours after Hibernian player David Paul, 18, died in his sleep.
