GEORGE Galloway will today try to frustrate David Cameron's plan to cancel Wednesday's Prime Minister's Questions so he and other ministers and MPs can attend the funeral of Baroness Thatcher.

The Respect MP for Bradford West, who decided not to take part in last week's debate on the tributes to the late Conservative premier, said he would try to block the UK Government motion, which will seek to cancel the weekly Commons question time and delay the start of parliamentary business to 2.30pm on Wednesday – after the funeral has taken place.

Ministers hoped the motion, tabled by Andrew Lansley, the Leader of the House, would go through on the nod at the end of Commons business tonight.

However Mr Galloway, the former Glasgow backbencher, said he would take advantage of Commons rules which mean that if one MP shouts "object", the motion will either have to be withdrawn or the UK Government will have to set aside time tomorrow for a debate and vote.

"It really is imperative that the Prime Minister is questioned about his decision to impose a quite unnecessary and expensive early return of Parliament, which was simply a hideous outpouring of right-wing eulogies and rants doused in crocodile tears," he wrote online.
