THE Big G in George Square is being dismantled with council cranes on site to take the Commonwealth Games sculpture apart.

Council staff began clearing the space around the statue to clear the way for the structure to be taken down on Monday, with work continuing yesterday.

Standing as tall as an African elephant, the sculpture will be taken away, strengthened and coated to be rebuilt.

Council bosses say it will be relocated outdoors, but have not yet revealed where.
