The controversial former player, 45, has battled long-term depression since quitting the game. He said: "It's about time every football club employed a full-time counsellor to tackle depression.
"I wasn't at all surprised to read recently that more than three-quarters of professional players in Scotland and England reckon it's a major problem. I wholeheartedly agree. The most difficult time is when you finally decide to hang up your boots.
