George in the frame for prize

KEEN artist George Meloy has been awarded his first prize for his paintings – at the age of 100.

Mr Meloy, a retired engineer from Bishopbriggs, has seen his watercolour Afternoon Tea selected as the cover shot for a new calendar.

He said: "I've only been painting for about 20 years, since I stopped working.
