Police in West Lothian are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old girl was assaulted and robbed in Livingston.

The incident occurred as she walked on a footpath from Pinebank to Dawson Avenue at around 3:30pm on Saturday (March 21).

An unknown man approached the victim and pushed her to the ground before taking her mobile phone and running off in the direction of Pinebank in Ladybank area.

Anyone who can assist police in identifying the man responsible is asked to come forward.

He is described as being white, around 30-years-old with short dark hair and wearing grey jogging bottoms with a grey jacket.

Sergeant Graeme Ruddy said: "This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim and we are keen to trace the man as quickly as possible.

"I ask anyone who has any information that can assist with our ongoing enquiries to contact police immediately on 101 or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
