A child was found alone on a street in Grangemouth around 2pm today.

The girl, believed to be around 18 months to two years old, was found by a passer-by on the corner of Abbotsford Drive and Glenbervie Road, Grangemouth.

The girl was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for a check up and police issued an appeal earlier today to trace the girl's parents or guardians.

Her grandparents have now been traced and police inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances. Officers would like to thank the public for their assistance.

Chief Inspector Mandy Paterson said: "The little girl was noticed by a concerned passer-by, who then called the police when he realised she was on her own."
