New figures show Glasgow is gaining ground on Edinburgh, which has held its own place despite the turmoil that has swept through the Scottish banking centre in recent years.
Both cities are counted among the world's top 40 financial centres in the league table – which is drawn up annually by the Long Finance research group – and are ranked higher than cities such as Abu Dhabi, Madrid and Beijing.
