MORE than 600 people joined a protest in Scotland's largest city over the decision to restrict the number of days the Union Flag will fly over Belfast City Hall.
The large crowd gathered in George Square in Glasgow yesterday after plans for the demonstration were launched on social media sites.
The protest coincided with a walk by the Irish republican group Cairde na hÉireann – the Friends of Ireland – which left from Shamrock Street in the Cowcaddens area of the city.
The Volunteer Sean McIlvenna Commemoration Parade, which was attended by around 250 people, ended at Rosemount Street.
Strathclyde Police said both events passed off peacefully and that there were no arrests.
