AROUND 100,000 people are expected to attend the Glasgow Show this weekend, with organisers expecting favourable weather to double numbers of recent years.

The city council said 50,000 people might attend at Glasgow Green on both Saturday and Sunday, the same number as attended for the whole weekend in 2012.

Headline acts across the weekend will be television talent-show stars Rylan Clark, who will perform on Saturday, and Amelia Lily, who is Sunday's main attraction.

Tribute act Abba Fever will also perform on both days, along with other musical acts The Parades, Waterfront and Supanova.

Billed as "an exhilarating weekend of amazing family entertainment and exciting activities", it will be preceded by the Glasgow Show parade, which leaves George Square at 11.30am with the noon arrival at the Green marking the opening.

Other attractions include the White Helmets motorcycle stunt team, the Tigers parachute display team and the Blazing Saddles horse stunt team.

Children will get the opportunity to try out the sports included in next year's Commonwealth Games.

Lord Provost Sadie Docherty said: "Excitement is building across the city. I am confident we will have a bumper crowd as families make the most of the great weather."

A family ticket (two adults and two children) for the show costs £15 per day.
