Glaswegians are flocking to the Edinburgh Fringe's new satellite box office .

The sales booth at Queen Street station is part of the organisation's biggest marketing push in the west of Scotland. Although no figures are yet available for ticket sales, it is said to be very busy with arts lovers buying tickets.

A ScotRail spokeswoman said: "The ticket booth seems popular and we're happy to have it in the station. It's really convenient for Glaswegians to collect their tickets and hop on a train through to Edinburgh, particularly as we're running later trains during the festivals."

A Fringe spokesman said: "The Glasgow box office is going well, it's busy.

"Lots of people are taking advantage of the ticket office at Queen Street and we are very pleased with its location, and the partnership with ScotRail, and hopefully that can continue for some years to come."

Festivals Edinburgh, the umbrella organisation of all 12 Edinburgh festivals, has also invested in marketing for the first time in Glasgow's west end, which market research has shown is home to many of city's festival-goers.

Less than 3% of tickets sold at the Fringe are bought by customers in Glasgow, while 22% of Fringe customers are from London, and Edinburgh accounts for about 50% of tickets bought.
