SEVEN Olympic gold medallists, including Laura Trott and Ed Clancy ,will be among a star-packed British team that will compete at the sell-out UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow next month.

The duo will be joined by fellow London 2012 gold medal winners Jason Kenny, Philip Hindes, Steven Burke, Dani King and Joanna Rowsell for the first major international competition to be held at the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

A crop of upcoming young talent including Becky James, widely tipped as a successor to recently retired Victoria Pendleton, and Jess Varnish, who missed out on a medal in London after being disqualified in the opening round of the team sprint, will also compete at the new arena in the city's east end.

Riders will go head-to-head in a series of action-packed disciplines including the keirin, sprint, team sprint, team pursuit and the omnium.

Although velodrome namesake Sir Chris Hoy will not be competing at the event, he will be a guest of honour.

All 16,000 tickets for the three-day event, which takes place from November 16 to 18, sold out less than an hour after going on sale in August.

A further 300 tickets will go on sale to the public this Thursday.
