A SELF portrait of a Scottish artist who was part of the influential Bloomsbury group has surfaced at a top auction house.

Duncan Grant's work - titled 'Self-portrait', painted in 1925 - is to go under the hammer at Bonhams' Modern British and Irish Art auction next month. The piece is expected to fetch up to £70,000.

A spokesman for Bonhams said: "The work shows Grant as a mature man, clearly less self-conscious, who is able to coolly take stock of himself at a critical period." The sale takes place in London on November 17 and 18.
