Green projects share £2m

Green projects designed to address climate change have received £2.1 million of Government money.

A new community arts and culture centre in Leith, Edinburgh, and a project to grow and sell produce in Ormiston, East Lothian, are the first projects to receive Climate Challenge Fund money that are expected to go on to generate their own revenue.

Leith Community Climate Change received a £255,837 grant to establish a low-carbon arts and culture centre, while Ormiston Grows Green was awarded a £281,290 grant to help residents grow vegetables and raise awareness of food waste.

Climate Change Minister Paul Wheelhouse announced the latest round of CCF awards during the Scottish launch of Climate Week.

In total, 13 projects in the Borders, South Lanarkshire, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Highland, Perth & Kinross, Stirling and Fife will share £2.1m.
