FEMINIST author Professor Germaine Greer is to honour Scotland's most significant early woman writer 26 years after first making her known to the modern world.
The academic will unveil a flagstone commemorating Elizabeth Melville, Lady Culross, the first Scotswoman to see her work in print, at Makars' Court in Edinburgh next month.
Known as the Poets' Corner of the north, it already contains 38 inscribed flagstones, but only six of them commemorate women.
Greer included and wrote about Melville in an epoch-making book, Kissing the Rod: An Anthology of 17th Century Women's Verse, in 1988.
