HIGH street baker Greggs has reportedly held talks with SPL bosses about selling their pies at premier league football grounds across Scotland.
Bosses of the Newcastle-based chain, which has more than 1600 outlets across the UK, are understood to have had secret discussions with SPL marketing chief Ross McDonald with a view to taking over the half-time hot food sales at all SPL games.
An SPL source said: "Any overall deal would be difficult because the clubs have individual contracts but Greggs are most interested in the big clubs with high volumes of sales."
However, Brian Sarafilovic, managing director of Glasgow-based Pars Foods – which supplies Celtic, St Mirren and Falkirk grounds – said fans "like the fact they're buying a locally made pie specific to their club".
A Greggs spokeswoman said: "Currently we have no plans to supply the Scottish Premier League but are always open to new business opportunities."
